Comedian Marlon Wayans Defends His 'White Chicks' Film Amid Cancel Culture Rise

Comedian and actor Marlon Wayans has launched a defence of his 2004 film, “White Chicks” by vowing to not tone down his comedy amid cancel culture.

The film certainly created a lot of talking points when it came out, as it was based on two FBI agents who decided to go undercover. But in the process of doing so, they dressed up as blonde women and came across in a very stereotypical manner in their attempt to uncover a kidnapping.

The movie did very well at the box office, as it generated over $100 million. With that being said, the film demonstrated that there is a market for films that may divide people at a time where things have become too politically correct.

In his comments, Marlon said: “I think they’re needed. I don’t know what planet we’re on, where you think people don’t need laughter, and that people need to be censored and canceled. If a joke is gonna get me canceled, thank you for doing me that favor.”

As a result, Marlon has not ruled out the possibility of having a sequel to the movie. This is something that he spoke about last year, and yet, the current nature of political correctness has made it a lot more difficult to pull off.

After all, we only have to look at the reaction that has emerged to other comedians that have pushed the boundaries. Take for example: Dave Chappelle. The comedian received a huge amount of backlash in response to his show, ‘The Closer’ after he was accused of making jokes that were deemed to be transphobic.

And as part of that process, Netflix employees had a walkout protest in order to demand that the network take his show off. And this approach has not sat well with Marlon. His following comments confirmed as much: “It’s sad that society is in this place where we can’t laugh anymore.

“I ain’t listening to this damn generation. I ain’t listening to these folks: These scared-ass people, these scared executives.” So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
