An ’80s prom Murder Mystery party on a boat is Charlize’s “Literal Dream Birthday”, and we think she may be on to something.
The South African actress shared her birthday images on Instagram, first an image of herself looking half her chronological age in a pink “Birthday Girl” T-shirt, accessorized with a pair of denim jean shorts, 80’s style fingerless gloves with matching Madonna hairbow and chunky necklaces that may have belonged to Tiffany or Debbie Gibson themselves.

“Well, I never got to go to prom, but this year for my bday my friends decided to change that,” Theron wrote. “I love these humans more than words can describe.”
In a second picture, Charlize posted with friends and family, everyone dressed to the nines in their 80’s best.
“Only they could know that an 80s prom murder mystery party on a boat is my literal dream birthday. What a family, what a night ?,” she added.
While we aren’t exactly sure how her loved ones incorporated an 80’s prom (which Charlize would have been too young for anyway!) with a murder mystery, but we can’t help but wish we were on that boat with them all!
The comments section of Charlize’s Instagram blew up with birthday wishes, including from her famous friends (or those who want to be her friend- like us!).
“Happy Birthday, Prom Queen! ?,” wrote Bravo king, Andy Cohen as actress Melanie Griffith, who co-starred with Charlize in Woody Allen’s late 90’s flick, Celebrity, posted “Happy Birthday beautiful Charlize!!! ?⭐️?⭐️.”
“Happy Birthday, love. I’m so glad you’re having such a lovely birthday,” said Queer Eye’s Tan France.
“Happy Birthday!!!” January Jones, a recent attendee at an event benefitting The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP), added.
