“Charles III: New King, New Court. The Inside Story,” by Robert Hardman, hit the shelves on January 18th and has already made it to the top of the bestseller list.
Hardman’s Book Reads Like a Historical Document
It has been described as a highly enlightening book, giving the reader access to the royal family and an inside peak at the new reign of King Charles.
The book contains new details about the Firm and its players and reads like a “historical document.” The book simply consists of the truth.
This book may not be for those who crave sensationalism and controversy. This honest way of writing and maintaining the monarchy’s integrity is why Hardman is so well-respected as a royal expert and author.
Instead of trying to sell books by creating juicy scandal and strife (are you listening, Omid Scobie?), Hardman has a deep appreciation, understanding, and respect for the rich history of the royal institution.
Hardman explains the purpose of his book quite effectively, “I have not sought to write a full-life biography. This book is a contemporary portrait of our new monarch and his new court.”
The royal expert is a class act. His most excellent skill is his dignity as a writer, as his methods as an author are above board. He has on-record interviews with many members of the royal family.
Royal staff have spoken to Hardman privately and put their trust in him. Interestingly, Robert Hardman also has some inside knowledge that the royal family, Prince William in particular, is not a fan of “The Crown.”
Many of them roll their eyes at the mere mention of the show. Hardman goes behind the scenes in the royal palaces to gather information and has been invited to their homes.
The Author Has Been Privy to Many Historic Moments in the Royal Family
Hardman has been privy to some of the most memorable historical events in the royal family’s history.
He was at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September 2022 and at rehearsals for the King’s Coronation. His close relationship with the royal family means he can separate fact from fiction. He is also a fair judge of character.
The biographer knows a thing or two about the monarchy’s transition when Charles went from being the Prince of Wales to the King of England.
Hardman is keen to point out that King Charles will never comment on anything sensationalistic or scandalous. However, he will talk for hours when asked about deeper matters, such as architecture, trees, or music.
Hardman knows the King and can admit that his interests are somewhat elite and that he has refined tastes.
And he is also very much committed to Poundbury, which is his humane housing development in Dorset. King Charles named himself Ranger of Windsor Park, which has increased his interest in nature.
Hardman also delves into everybody’s two favorite subjects, The Sussexes and The Duke of York. But he doesn’t make either of them the star of the show. That honor deservedly goes to Queen Elizabeth.
Hardman has made no secret that he is her biggest fan and that Charles has not let her down.
