CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers is saying that as we all know, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was born in Buffalo, NY, and raised in the midwest all his life. So when it comes to his accent, people are wondering just where on earth it came from. Because acquiring a light germanic accent after being born and raised in the US all of your life kind of doesn’t add up. It would be like me, someone who’s from the southeastern portion of the US suddenly acquiring a Brooklyn accent and letting it settle there. It just wouldn’t make sense.
CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Part Of Victor’s New Identity
His father left the family and his mother had to give up one of her children, that one of which was Victor when he was quite young. He said he waited on her for years to come back for him, but when she didn’t he formed an entirely new identity called ‘Victor Newman’ because he didn’t want to be associated with his Father’s dreadful last name after how he had left the family. You can’t really blame him for that, but did he invent the accent too? I mean was it just a mystique thing that he wanted to do for the ladies or what? I mean, it could be. He could have just wanted to come off as a James Bond type back when he was a younger man so he affected a mysterious, European-sounding accent.

CBS ‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Maybe He Couldn’t Help It
Sure, it could have just been a quirky part of his ‘new’ identity, but maybe he couldn’t help it. There is a phenomenon where when one gets a certain type of head injury, that your ‘accent’ permanently changes. It’s called Foreign Accent Syndrome and considering Victor Newman is no stranger to getting into scrapes, then that very well could be the case. Maybe it’s an incident in his past that he doesn’t like to talk about, maybe it was just one of those nights when he’d had a bit too much to drink and got into a particularly embarrassing barroom brawl and got knocked out and when he came to he had the accent of a german ex-pat. The accent has never exactly been explained, but I’m pretty sure some people, upon first meeting Victor, have thought that he was from Europe. The accent will probably never be explained, but hey who knows, maybe the next time they have a celebration of Victor that could be an angle they could explore. Stay tuned!!!
