The return of Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) to Genoa City is trouble for many, but perhaps the one most impacted is Phyllis. After a long and difficult history together, Phyllis believes that Diane’s return spells nothing for trouble for her ex-husband Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), her daughter Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) and son-in-law Kyle Abbott (Michael Maelor). While Diane has sworn she is a new woman and has reformed, Phyllis doesn’t believe a word of it. Her hatred for her arch-nemesis has continued to grow.

Diane set fire to pool house and almost died in the accident but framed Phyllis for it. Phyllis was arrested for arson and attempted murder. Phyllis was eventually exonerated but still does not trust Diane.
CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Uncertain Future
Everyone thought Diane was dead, but it turns out that she faked her own death. Her return was a shock for everyone, especially Phyllis. When she catches Jack and Diane kissing, she suspects that nothing good can come from Diane’s return and her hatred for Diane continues to grow. Her daughter Summer has also begun to share her mother’s concerns. Even though Diane is her mother-in-law, she feels that Diane’s shady past and business associates put her and her family in danger. She was even contemplating taking her son on a trip to Paris to get away from it all. The issue is even becoming a wedge between Summer and her husband, Kyle. They are often arguing about who is worse–Diane or Phyllis.
For her part, Phyllis is consumed by hatred for Diane. Her enemy is always on her mind. Her son Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) believes that her hatred will negatively influence her work and her relationships. He warns her against letting that hate over-take her life. Even Tucker McCall (William Russ) warns her about this and encourages her to be at peace so everything will work out.
Will Phyllis be able to keep this hatred under control? As Jack and Diane grow closer, will Phyllis be able to manage her feelings of jealousy? What do you think?
