Candace Cameron Bure has had a torrid time of late following the online abuse she has suffered in response to a family photo she posted. The reality TV star, being in defiant mood, clapped back at the criticism in an emotional outburst and rightly so.
Candace, who had recently taken a break from social media, returned only to remember why she had left in the first place.
Candace Cameron Bure Outraged As Her Family Suffers Abuse On Instagram
In a post which surfaced on her Instagram, the former Fuller House star posted a new year photo with the caption: “Happy New Year from the Bures!! “Looking forward to what 2021 has in store.”
The photo shows Candace alongside her husband Valeri Bure and their three kids. A touching moment no doubt. But what was the response from the broader public on social media? Rather tragic.
In a series of posts, several members went on to hurl abuse. The comments began to get personal with digs being directed towards her children.
One Instagram user commented on her daughter Natasha: “What a weird pose your daughter’s doing.”
And things continued to get uglier with another saying: “Why do your daughter and son [Lev] look so angry?”
Naturally, Candace hit back in style. In a series of replies, she criticized those who had the nerve to make scathing comments. When posting on Instagram, she wrote:
“Wow – I post a family photo, and you all find everything you don’t like about it or can make fun of. Do better than that. Please.
“Omg!!!! I didn’t smile or look at the camera. Sue me!!!”
Candace was clearly shaken and sent out one more heartfelt message. She said:
“Do you think it’s funny to criticize someone’s children? To make jokes about them? To critique our poses? The direction in which we are looking. Our physical appearance and facial expressions.”
Despite the negative comments surfacing on social media, fans were very sympathetic and receptive to her post. Christy Carlson Romano, best known for being Shia Labeouf’s sister in the hit kids show Even Stevens, commented: “Slayyyyyy Bures!!!!” Christy enjoyed the snaps then.
But for all the abuse Candace suffered, she has a beautiful family that she will defend till the end. So much so that she has refused to let this experience stop her from staying on social media. She later on posted on Instagram: “I think my social media break is now over.”
