So, this looks like it’s serious? There’s a new report that suggests Caitlyn Jenner might be one step closer in her dream of becoming the next Governor of California.

The former reality television star and transgender activist now has a team of seasoned GOP strategists for a possible campaign for Governor of the Golden State. Here’s what you need to know.

According to Politico, Kris Jenner’s former spouse and her political advisers are looking to have a meeting at her Malibu home next week to discuss the possibility of her running for Governor of California.

Even though she has been denying rumors that she wants to run, Caitlyn has now taken some concrete steps to prepare for a potential campaign.

Caitlyn’s team includes Ryan Erwin, a former top official at the California Republican Party who had roles on Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush’s presidential campaigns, who is serving as a general consultant.

According to two people familiar with the hires, she has also tapped Harmeet Dhillon, a Republican National Committee member and San Francisco-based attorney, to be general counsel.

As many fans know, Gavin Newsom’s popularity has taken a hit in the last year. The photogenic governor has seen his approval rating plummet in response to his strict lockdown measures he placed on businesses and the state’s closure of schools.

It’s been noted that neither of which played a strong role in actually stopping the spread of coronavirus in the state. As a result, a recall effort was launched that announced in mid-March it had reached nearly 2 million signatures, well above the 1.5 million needed to force an election.

Should Caitlyn Jenner undertake the run and win, it would not be the first time a high-profile Republican has succeeded in a California recall election. Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and former President Ronald Regan come to mind.
