Britney Spears has continued to call out her father, Jamie Spears, as their conservatorship battle does not look like it will die down anytime soon.
Britney Spears Accuses Her Father Of ‘Conservatorship Abuse’
Britney suffered a major setback, as the judge initially ruled in favour of her father by continuing to allow him to have a say in the singer’s affairs. While that may have been the case, it has not stopped Britney from continuing to pursue justice in an attempt to reclaim her life.
And Britney has taken the case to another level by accusing her father of abuse. In an official statement given to the court, Britney said: “I’m here to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse. [I am] extremely scared. This conservatorship has allowed my dad to ruin my life.”
This is consistent with Britney’s prior comments about her father. She admitted to having mass control over her life, which included the prevention of her marrying her boyfriend Sam Ashgari. She even went as far as to say that her treatment was akin to that of a victim of trafficking.
Now it looks as though she wants to put her father behind bars. She added: “[I want to] press charges. If this isn’t abuse, I don’t know what is. … I thought they were trying to kill me.” And Britney has already started her attempts to do just that. She was granted the right to choose her own lawyer, and she has taken up that opportunity.
She previously expressed she did not know that this was possible, which hindered her efforts in trying to get her side of the story across. This also led to her former attorney resigning as well as her manager (Larry Rudolph) in what looks to be a major shake-up in her life. By doing so, Britney is looking to right her wrongs.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “I’m sorry for my ignorance, but I didn’t know that [change lawyers.] It’s embarrassing and demoralizing what I’ve been through, and that’s the main reason I didn’t say it openly. I didn’t think anybody would believe me.”
