British Royal News suggests that Meghan Markle will have to wait a little bit longer before she makes her grand debut back into the celebrity world. Previous reports have indicated that the former Hollywood actress and former working member of the British royal family were hoping to attend this year’s MET Gala. But unfortunately for the Duchess of Sussex and the other celebrity attendees, Anna Wintour has just announced that she is canceling the event. Here’s what you need to know.

Back in January, both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle managed to shock the world with a rather seismic public announcement that said they were stepping down from their roles as senior members of the royal family. While both Harry and Meghan were hoping to have at least one foot in the door at Buckingham Palace and one foot out, Queen Elizabeth made it clear that wouldn’t be possible. As a result, Harry and Meghan are no longer representing the Queen at any official royal engagements and public appearances and instead have started their new life in Vancouver, Canada as independently-financial royals.

That’s one of the reasons why Meghan Markle was hoping to stun the celebrity world by making her first grand appearance at this year’s MET Gala. But because of the coronavirus, both she and Prince Harry, along with the rest of the world, are being forced into self-quarantine in the hopes that this will help curb the outbreak of the virus. As of press time, the novel virus has infected almost 190,000 people all over the world and has claimed the lives of 7,513 people with half of them in China.
