As a matter of fact, there’s new speculation that one of the reasons why Meghan Markle was so fast to pack her bags and move out of Frogmore Cottage is that she was disappointed that she wasn’t as popular with the British public as she was hoping to be. According to royal expert and observer Omid Scobie, the former Hollywood actress apparently had “unrealistic expectations” and supposedly thought that being a member of the British royal family meant that she would have instant popularity. Of course, that wasn’t the case at all.

British Royal News: Is This The Reason Why Meghan Markle Wanted to Desperately Quit The Royal Family?
The Daily Mail reports Omid as saying, “I think one of the biggest mistakes Meghan made, and I’ve heard this from sources close to her, is that she naively went in thinking this role came almost with instant popularity.” Apparently, Omid also believed that Meghan thought she was ‘untouchable’ as a member of the monarchy. Needless to say, that’s not the case for everyone as all members of the royal family have been slammed or criticized by the British press in one way or another.
He added, “[She thought] you start in a good place and there is this, no matter what, there is a honeymoon period that comes with marrying into the royal family that allows you to falter at times, or figure something out, or whatever it is.” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have since decided to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family and have moved their family to Vancouver. Now, whether or not they will return to royal life in London remains to be seen.
