British Royal News find that a lot of fans figured that it would only be a matter of time before this would happen. The BBC announced that it has suspended production of the hit British soap Eastenders until further notice because of the global coronavirus pandemic. To date, the Covid-19 virus has infected more than 200,000 people from all over the world, and has also resulted in 8,000 deaths. That number is expected to rise in the coming days. In the UK, the coronavirus outbreak has claimed the lives of 70 people, with that number expected to rise as well.
According to reports, the decision was made by the producers of the hit soap in order to protect the health and the safety of the crew and the cast. Fortunately, Eastenders is not the only soap that has decided to suspend filming for the time being. In the United States, all of the four major soaps – which includes The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives and General Hospital – have all announced that they too will be delaying production for the time being. While many of the soaps have said that they are looking to return to the studios by April 15th, at this time even that date remains uncertain. In Australia, Neighbours will also be suspending production until further notice as well.
