Queen Elizabeth turns 94 next week, but it is unlikely that she has ever lived through anything like this. However, a report in the Express has revealed that Her Majesty has a secret knack to maintaining her high spirits through this difficult period. The Queen has been in lockdown at Windsor Castle for nearly a month now, after being moved there from London after guidance from the government.
Her Majesty was always going to spend the Easter period at Windsor Castle, but moved there a week earlier than was planned due to the global pandemic. However, she has managed to keep her spirits high during the lockdown by one simple love of hers- dogs. The Queen has always loved dogs and has owned 30 corgis throughout her life. The report states that the Queen is maintaining her spirits by talking the dogs that she has for regular walks around the Windsor Castle grounds.
British Royal Family News: The Queen And Her Dogs
Her Majesty was given her first dog when she was 18, and since then she has owned 30 dogs. Her personal favourite is believed to be the corgis, but she is a lover of all breeds. The report also shows the pain that the Queen felt when one of her oldest corgis passed away a few years ago. The Queen was reportedly devastated when Holly passed away at the age of 13 in 2016.
Holly also appeared in the sketch that was included in the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic Games, which also included Daniel Craig portraying his role as James Bond. However, Holly was evidentially unwell in that sketch as she was suffering from illness due to her old age.
British Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth’s Two Remaining Dogs
The Queen has been adamant that she will not be having any more dogs in the future. At present, she has two remaining dogs who are called Candy and Vulcan. They are both a cross of corgi and dachshund. The one remaining corgi that she had sadly passed away in 2018.
Of course, it isn’t just dogs that have a place in the heart of the Queen, as she is a lover of all animals. It was recently reported that the Queen will be unable to attend Royal Ascot this year after the event was cancelled due to the pandemic, but no doubt the Queen will be watching the horses on the television coverage.
