British Royal Family News Prince William was once again leading the country from the front on Thursday evening, as he and his family stepped outside at 8 pm to clap for the carers that are battling against the coronavirus on the frontline. The clip was part of the sketch routine that Prince William was a part of with Stephen Fry for the BBC’s ‘Big Night In’.
The night of entertainment was aimed at raising as much money as possible for NHS charities around the United Kingdom. It was revealed on Friday morning that the event rose just over £27 million. Big Night In was the combining of Children in Need and Comic Relief, which are the two biggest telethons on British television. The show was hosted by creator Sir Lenny Henry, Davina McCall, Paddy McGuiness and Zoe Ball.
British Royal Family News: Royals Lead The Round Of Applause
William and Kate were the first to start the round of applause on Thursday evening, as viewers watched on as they came out of their house to start clapping. Princess Charlotte and Prince George started clapping first, before the rest of the family joined in. The family were all dressed in blue as a nod towards the NHS and their support.
Yesterday marked the fifth week in a row that the United Kingdom had stopped what they were doing to step outside and applaud the efforts by the NHS. The majority of the country and now doing it as part of a newfound tradition, with some even setting off fireworks to give the NHS staff the support and love that they truly deserve.
British Royal Family News: Telethon Steals The Show
The event was one of the most-watched events of the year, with all the money raised going toward the NHS. There was an excellent sketch involving Prince William and Stephen Fry, as the prince admitted that he wasn’t watching Tiger King on Netflix because he can’t bear watching anything related to the royals.
Fans also saw welcome returns for many of the most loved shows in the United Kingdom, with Little Britain, The Catherine Tate Show and The Vicar of Dibley all recording specials. There was also a first public appearance by comedian Peter Kay in nearly two years as he recorded a special version of his sketch from 15 years ago with the help of NHS staff that are battling on the frontline.
