British Royal Family News suggests that Prince William and Kate Middleton, along with the rest of the British Royal family, have had nothing to say about the Black Lives Matter movement that has swept many nations, including the U.S. and the U.K. At least, they haven’t had anything to say publicly. Even though Meghan Markle made a passionate speech following the George Floyd protests that have taken place in almost every major city in the United States, the British monarchy back in London is yet to make any speeches or say anything in public. Here’s what you need to know.
Just last week, Meghan Markle did make a virtual speech to the students of her former Catholic high school, Immaculate Heart. The Duchess said, “George Floyd’s life mattered and Breonna Taylor’s life mattered and Philando Castile’s life mattered and Tamir Rice’s life mattered. I wasn’t sure what I could say to you. I wanted to say the right thing and I was really nervous that it would get picked apart. And I realized the only wrong thing to say is to say nothing.”

And even though Prince William and Kate Middleton have been keeping rather busy with their virtual engagements, they are yet to make any comments about Black Lives Matter. The Queen, meanwhile, has also remained quiet at Windsor Castle. As many fans can recall, Queen Elizabeth did make an historic speech urging the UK to remain calm and vigilant during the early weeks of the coronavirus lockdown but it yet to address the United Kingdom about systematic racism and race issues. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter. Instead, the royal family is preparing to celebrate Queen Elizabeth’s birthday with a scaled down version of Trooping the Colours at Windsor Castle this weekend.
