British Royal Family News suggests that Prince Charles is thinking what we’ve all been thinking for the last several weeks now – and that is living during the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has been incredibly challenging on just about everyone, regardless of who they are or where they live. The future King of England made his comments during a virtual meeting with National Trust supporters this week.

Prince Charles knows that life as we know it will change for the coming months, if not also for a very long time thereafter. He admitted during his call that the trust is set to lose £200 million this year because of the Covid-19 outbreak. As of press time, over 3.65 million people from around the world have tested positive for the novel virus. While 1.19 million have recovered, there have been over 255,976 deaths in counting. Unfortunately, the United Kingdom has had more than 194,990 cases and 29,427, which is more deaths than Italy has had, even though they were considered the European epicenter for the virus for the last several weeks.

According to Britain’s The Telegraph, the heir to the throne puts it this way, “I believe passionately that today’s challenges make the National Trust more important than ever. And, as I write this now, events are progressing at the most extraordinary pace and are touching all our lives. The global spread of coronavirus is challenging society in a way that we have not experienced for generations and as a direct impact it has, of course, necessitated the temporary closure of the National Trust’s properties, parks and gardens too.”

Prince Charles added, “”Sadly, the situation has also forced the cancellation of the 125th Anniversary Garden Party that was due to take place at Buckingham Palace on Thursday 14 May, when I had much been looking forward to meeting many of you. While this is undoubtedly a great shame, I know the anniversary will not be overlooked and I shall do whatever I can to play my part in celebrating this important milestone – however remotely.”

The trust’s director Hilary McGrady adds that the sharp drop in income is also threatening the country’s environmental sector.
