British Royal Family News: Meghan Markle’s Black Lives Matter Speech Would Not Have Happened Under Queen Elizabeth?

British Royal Family News says that Meghan Markle would have not been able to make her passionate Black Lives Matter speech if she were still a full-time working member of the royal family. Here’s why.

Just last week, Meghan Markle did make a virtual speech to the students of her former Catholic high school, Immaculate Heart. The Duchess said, “George Floyd’s life mattered and Breonna Taylor’s life mattered and Philando Castile’s life mattered and Tamir Rice’s life mattered. I wasn’t sure what I could say to you. I wanted to say the right thing and I was really nervous that it would get picked apart. And I realized the only wrong thing to say is to say nothing.”

British Royal Family News: Meghan Markle’s Black Lives Matter Speech Would Not Have Happened Under Queen Elizabeth?

According to Express.co.uk, Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary Dickie Arbiter says that Meghan Markle would not have been able to speak up on Black Lives Matter if she and Prince Harry were still senior and full-time working members of the royal family. In fact, Arbiter says that regardless of how strong Meghan feels about the subject, the Queen would have said no to her making a speech that makes any hints at racism or politics in public.

He told the site, “What’s happened in the states is an absolute tragedy and it should never have happened but unfortunately it did happen. Had Meghan and Harry still been in the UK and working members of the Royal Family that speech couldn’t have happened. I’m talking about the whole speech, end of.”

Arbiter added, “It’s highly politicized because of the very nature of what it is. And it’s starting to voice opinions about the internal affairs of another country. I don’t think the Queen has to say anything. It is a social issue for the United States and it is not for a head of state to voice an opinion, whether the queen or the president of France or whoever.”

Even though there have also been George Floyd protests taking place in the U.K. as well, Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family have indeed not made any comments about the Black Lives Matter movement.
