British Royal Family News tell us that Meghan Markle will be absent from the UK this year after deciding not to travel. This is according to Omid Scobie, who happens to be the author of her biography Finding Freedom.

British Royal Family News: Meghan Markle Will Not Travel To The UK

When speaking to OK magazine, he went to say: “Meghan wouldn’t want to be away from Archie and it would be very tricky to factor a small child into their travels with all the restrictions that could potentially be in place.” Is this an excuse for Meghan to avoid the Royals? Well, Omid thinks it is somewhat down to her son Archie. He added: “Archie loves being on Zoom calls with the family and the Queen has been enjoying those throughout lockdown.

“I’m sure Meghan will send the Queen some gorgeous flowers for her birthday and also get Archie to help her with the card.” And this decision could have catastrophic consequences. Another Royal expert, Nigel Cawthrone, said: “If Meghan decided not to attend for no reason it would indeed be a snub to her royal in-laws and mark a nadir in the relations between the royal family and the Sussexes. It would be a public relations disaster that would hang like a dark shadow over the celebrations.”

Nevertheless, sources have suggested that the decision has been due to practical reasons and nothing more. After all, Prince Harry will still travel. A source said: “Her Majesty made very clear when they left the UK that Harry and Meghan were still much loved members of her own family and would be very welcome to attend family events. That still holds true. Practically, however, it comes with the need for a certain amount of diplomacy. There is still a great deal of distance between Harry and many family members, particularly his brother.”

Another source confirmed as much: “It should be strongly stressed that there is still an element of uncertainty about this because of the unpredictable COVID situation, but the understanding is the duke is more than likely to come back on his own. This is a personal and practical decision by the couple, but it would certainly help officials navigate what is likely to be a fairly tricky situation.”

There is still time for Meghan to change her mind.  If you enjoyed reading this article, then make sure you check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish. Please also visit TVRocker for all of the latest exciting news on all of your favourite daytime television soaps.
