Prince Charles has opened up on the difficulties he has gone through, in adjusting to life, following the passing of his father, Prince Phillip.
Prince Charles Misses Prince Phillip-‘ I Can Only Say How Deeply Saddened I Am’
The latter died at the age of 99 after a period of hospitalisation in which the best medical care could not save him. While the royals have had a funeral since then, in the presence of Prince Harry, Charles cannot get over the void that has been left in his life. In a post on Twitter, he was very sombre about his mood. He said: “This year, so many families, like my own, will have an empty seat at their dinner table.
“I can only say how deeply saddened I am by this tragic situation. My heart goes out to all those who have lost their loved ones.” Charles, for his part, is all too aware of the heartbreak associated with losing a loved one. His first wife, Princess Diana, had tragically died in Paris following an unexpected car crash. Although they were divorced at the time, it did leave him with the task of bringing up Prince William and Harry as a single parent.
Not only that, Charles has now seen his own relationship with Harry becoming fractured. In Harry’s interview on CBS, he lamented Charles for not doing enough to protect him and Meghan from the press. Even though their relationship has improved since the revelations, Charles has been left angered by the manner in which the disclosures were made.
All of this has not been helped by the friction between William and Harry. Nevertheless, this is the reality of life. Charles added: “This last year, I know, has been deeply challenging for us all, and I’m only too aware of the impact of the pandemic.” With Queen Elizabeth II already in her nineties, Charles is next in line to take over the throne.
If the inevitable time comes, it is not going to be an easy task especially given the increasing disapproval of the Royal family in the UK. And with the pandemic causing more division than unity, Charles will have his hands full.
