Shannen Doughtery Cancer Update
Former co-star and good friend Brian Austin Green recently gave an update on Shannen’s health.
“She’s doing great,” he exclaimed. “She’s resilient. I mean, if anyone I know is going to have to deal with what she’s dealing with, she’s the one that can get through it.”
Back in June, Shannen opened up about her health battle. Shannen said her “fear is obvious.” On January 5th, her CT scan displayed that the cancer had spread to the brain.
On January 12th, the first round of radiation took place. Doughtery revealed an audiovisual of her getting fitted for the mask she would wear for her first round of radiation.
“I am extremely claustrophobic, and a lot happened in my life. I am fortunate to have great doctors like Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedar Sinai. But that fear…. The turmoil…. The timing of it all…. This is what cancer can look like.”
Green and Doughtery’s Health Battles
Shannen recently went to Italy to immerse herself in the culture and enjoy herself. She went to the small fishing village of Nerano, Italy, and sampled the delicious food. Her main goal was to unwind and relax.
Doughtery played the 90210 vixen Brenda Walsh from 1990 until 1994. Brian Austin Green played geek turned cool radio DJ from 1990 to 2000.
Green says that he has remained in constant contact with Doughtery and says that she is “making the best of her unfavorable situation.”
Green is also no stranger to health issues. He recently talked about his struggles and why he and Doughtery have a close bond.
Green had ulcerative colitis and vertigo, which became a serious neurological issue. Green had difficulty with his speech and lost his ability to walk. He also couldn’t read or write.
He wasn’t able to work for about four years. Shannen and Brain Austin Green share a very close bond. They understand what being sick is like and have supported each other throughout the years.
Green also recently experienced backlash from having a full body scan; for the purpose of detecting any abnormal health issues that were going on. However, it is understandable, considering the health problems that Green has been through.
Green explains that he feels good about his decision to get it done and feels much better knowing he is in the clear. Although, people need to understand that full-body scans should not replace regular screenings.
One thing is for sure: Shannen is a cancer warrior, and her determination to fight the illness is an incredible and admirable feat of strength.
