Bradley Cooper has opened up on his prior struggles with addiction which left him with a drinking and cocaine problem.
Bradley Cooper Recalls Being A Cokehead-‘Struggled With Zero Self-Esteem…I Was Totally Depressed’
The star struggled to deal with the pressures of being in the acting industry which all came to a head when he was demoted to only appearing as a guest star on ‘Alias.’ This was hard to take for Cooper since he had been playing the role of Will Tippin on the show for two years in the presence of Jennifer Garner.
And those struggles to make it to the top ended up getting too much. In an interview on “Smartless” podcast, he said: “I was so lost and I was addicted to cocaine — that was the other thing. I severed my Achilles tendon right after I got fired-slash-quit Alias and struggled with zero self-esteem.”
Nevertheless, those experiences shaped the man that Bradley went on to become. His problems were taking place when he was just 29-years-old. And therefore in terms of Hollywood, he was still a while away from being in his prime.
That gave him the drive to continue pursuing his acting dreams until he hit the jackpot of starring the ‘Hangover’ movies. And that is when things began to change. He added: “I could not get into any clubs, no girls wanted to look at me. I was totally depressed. It wasn’t really until The Hangover.”
So once Bradley’s career started to go well, he sought out help much closer to home. The star was able to rely on the help of his friend Arnett. And by having that support network in place, Cooper has not looked back. Since the ‘Hangover,’ he has had major movie success including his role in ‘A Star is Born’ alongside Lady Gaga.
Bradley has clearly come a long way. And his story serves as an example to others that anything is possible. Hopefully, going forward, things continue to stay that way. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
