After eight years of contentious legal battles, Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally reached a divorce settlement.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, stated in a statement to Page Six. “This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Finally Settle Bitter Divorce After Eight-Year-Long Lawsuit
Court documents obtained reveal that Jolie has waived her right to receive spousal support from Pitt. The settlement marks a significant milestone in the long and arduous divorce proceedings, bringing an end to years of legal wrangling.
The former Hollywood power couple, affectionately known as “Brangelina,” met on the set of the 2005 film “Mr. & Mrs.Smith,” igniting a romance that captivated the world. Their relationship blossomed, and they welcomed six children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, and twins Knox and Vivienne.
However, their fairytale romance tragically crumbled in 2016 when Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The subsequent years were marked by bitter disputes over custody, property, and finances.
The divorce proceedings were further complicated by a highly publicized incident on a private plane in 2016, where accusations of physical and verbal abuse were leveled against Pitt. While the FBI and child welfare authorities cleared Pitt of any wrongdoing, the incident cast a long shadow over the proceedings.
The couple’s legal battles extended beyond custody and finances. Pitt and Jolie have been embroiled in a separate legal battle over their joint ownership of Château Miraval, a renowned French vineyard.
Jolie’s sale of her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group without Pitt’s consent sparked a lawsuit from the actor, who accused her of deliberately undermining the business. Jolie subsequently filed a countersuit, alleging that Pitt had engaged in abusive behavior towards her and their children.
This divorce settlement brings an end to a significant chapter in the lives of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, marking a potential turning point in their ongoing journey towards healing and co-parenting their children.
