Colton Underwood’s decision to come as gay has seen a widespread reaction from two people who know him well, Blake Horstmann and Hannah Godwin.

The star, who had previously appeared on the show to woo members of the opposite sex, dropped a major bombshell by revealing the struggles he had gone through with his sexuality. While he was commended for being so open, his critics bashed him for misleading various people throughout his relationships with his female counterparts. But now, that has all been put behind him.
In an interview on Good Morning America, Colt revealed how he could no longer stay silent. He said: “I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay. I came to terms with that earlier this year, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. … I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. That means the world to me.”
Several stars have come out and praised him for the brave action that he took. Blake Horstmann, who is a personal friend of Colt, revealed how he sent his best wishes immediately once the news had broken. During an interview on Extra, he said: “I did text him. I’m sure I’ll hear from him within the next couple days, [so I can] let him know what I think and how proud of him I am. I hope he is able to give a lot of other people courage to do the same.”
One person who may have been shocked by the news was Hannah Godwin. After all, she was one of the women vying for his affection on The Bachelor. But given that Colt had sent her home, she had no animosity towards him.
In a statement, she praised his courage for speaking out. She stated: “I support Colton for having the courage to finally be able to live his life authentically. Nobody should have to hide from who they really are. I’ll always wish Colton the very best and hoping he has found his peace.”
