Blair Underwood and Desiree DaCosta have called time on their marriage with the news that they will be going their separate ways.

The duo, who have been married for a mammoth 27 years, do share three children together: Brielle, Blake and Paris. While the split aims to mark a new journey in their lives, the pair could not help but feel saddened by it. In a post on Blair’s Instagram, we can see the following joint statement issued by the couple: “We have come to the conclusion to end our marriage that began 27 years ago.”
The decision to split has come as a bit of a shock in light of the longevity of their marriage. Having said that, they have a clear action plan in place in order to deal with the next stages of their lives. They both agree that their kids should take priority, and they have already set up co-parenting arrangements in order to facilitate things.
Not only that, they wish to impart their knowledge to their kids-who may end up following the acting profession. The statement added: “We have always put their best interests first & will continue to do so. We will continue to be the best of friends and co-parents and have the utmost respect for one another as we embark on this new chapter of our lives, separately.”
The reasoning for the split has not been made any clear as of yet. And this has been made more prominent by Blair’s decision to block any comments being posted on the statement. The duo are looking for some downtime so as to collate their thoughts before speaking out on the matter in great depth. This is understandable given the amount of time they had been married.
Despite the longing for fans to know what exactly went down, the pair thanked fans for their patience. The statement continued: “[Thank you for the] support throughout the years [and we want] privacy and understanding during this new season of change.” The story will, no doubt, become clearer in the coming months, but as for now fans will have to wait.
