Billie Eilish, who has an enormous fan base of 110 million followers on Instagram, confessed that she has eradicated all social media applications from her cellphone.
Billie Eilish Shuts Off All Her Social Media From Her Phone-‘I Don’t Look At It’
The vocalist, who has already dismissed any negative comments about her physical appearance on the internet, revealed that she had taken off her social media applications because she didn’t enjoy seeing snapshots of herself.
In 2020, she responded to her critics by showing her body in a YouTube clip labeled “Not My Responsibility”. Meanwhile, in another video for Calvin Klein in 2019, the singer said she did not want anyone to know every single detail about her.
That is why she has now had enough. In her comments, she said: “I don’t look at it anymore. I deleted it all off my phone, which is such a huge deal for me. Cause dude, you didn’t have the internet to grow up with.” Those comments are significant for the following reasons.
First of all, given that Billie has such a massive fan base around the world, there will be those who were not happy to hear this. It may impact her ability to communicate with her fans, but she could mitigate this by giving control of her social media to her team.
Secondly, others argued that she had to do what was best for her mental health, given that she is under so much scrutiny by virtue of being in the public eye. One person wrote: “Good for you. Take a break.”
While another person stated: “This generation craves attention and once she starts to miss it, it will be too much. So yea, I give it a week, two max, before she’s back online.” Time will tell if Billie does end up staying away from social media on her phone after all.
