It looks like Caitlyn Jenner sure has a lot of work ahead of her and especially if she expects anyone to vote for her in the next California election.
In fact, Bill Maher couldn’t help but mock the Olympian medalist and former reality television star in her bid to become the next Governor of the Golden State. Caitlyn is hoping to unseat Democrat Gavin Newsom in the California recall election. Here’s what you need to know.
Real Time host Bill Maher made it no secret that he is no fan of Caitlyn Jenner during the most recent episode of his show.
Bill Maher Slams Caitlyn Jenner Over Her New California Governor Campaign
“I know that you think of her as a reality show star, but c’mon, people, change,” Maher quipped. “She is trans, rested and ready. She’s got a great slogan, ‘Take the sack out of Sacramento.'”
Bill Maher then took aim at Caitlyn Jenner’s credentials – or lack thereof, for that matter.
“I love that about her. Wasn’t always sure about the man-woman thing, but low capital-gains taxes, born that way!” Maher joked.
He continued, “And a lot of people, of course, are saying, ‘Isn’t it strange for a trans woman to be in a party that is passing anti-trans laws all over the country?’ And Caitlyn said, ‘Yeah, I get that. It’s just something about being in a party that doesn’t respect me that makes me feel like I’m home with the Kardashians.”
In a press release posted on Twitter on Friday, Caitlyn, a longtime Republican, said that she’d make a “formal announcement” in the “the coming weeks” and pitched herself as a “compassionate disruptor” who will campaign on “solutions” and “providing a roadmap back to prosperity” for the state.
“California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people. Sacramento needs an honest leader with a clear vision,” Jenner said.
