In a recent interview, Ben Affleck reflected on his own career and the changing film industry and said that back in 2018 when he filmed Justice League in the role of Batman, the entire experience was miserable.

He said that not all of it was just the reshoots with Whedon, but also the fact that he was going through a divorce with ex-wife Jennifer Garner at the time and the fact that Zack Snyder, the original director of the film had to leave the project due to the death of his daughter.

Now, Affleck did not elaborate as to what exactly made his time on the set with Whedon miserable, but this isn’t the first time that Whedon has been accused of creating a toxic environment to work in. Quite a few female stars have accused Whedon of this in the past, even as far back as his Buffy days.

(Oh and if you ever wonder why Spike/Buffy didn’t happen… that was his fault. You’re welcome.) Affleck does go on to say that his feelings about the process are not indicative of the final product, which was good, but would he do it again? Probably not.

He said as a younger man he would have been up for the challenge, but now that he’s more seasoned, he says that changing his priorities has been a wonderful benefit.

After starring in Ridlet Scott’s “The Last Duel” and having it not do so well at the box office, he has shifted focus more toward being there for his kids. While he does say that he was disappointed that more people didn’t get out and see the film, he recognizes that with the current world changes, the movie landscape will change too.

In a sense he’s right, back a decade ago the word “pandemic” was just a word in the dictionary, not a concept we were actively familiar with, and “lockdown” was something you didn’t hear outside a prison cell.

Does Affleck regret his shift in priorities? No, he says, “I don’t care, I’ve got to live with myself, my life, and my choices and how that makes me feel, and I’m just glad I figured that out.” very wise words. Stay tuned!!!
