Bella Hadid has opened up on how she was shadow banned by Instagram, as a result of her support for Palestine.
Bella Hadid Slams Instagram For Shadow Banning Her
Bella, for her part, is part Palestinian as a result of her father. While she may live in the United States, she has always spoken vocally for the Palestinian people as part of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
And yet, that has not always proved popular, something which she has found out. In a post on social media, she said: ”When I post about Palestine I get immediately shadow banned and almost 1 million less of you see my stories and posts.”
This is clearly having an impact on Bella in more ways than one. She does have over 50 million followers on Instagram and is just as popular as her sister Gigi Hadid who also speaks out on similar issues. And given that Bella has a huge Palestinian fan base, they have also been affected by the censorship that Bella has been struggling With.
Despite that being the case, Bella has stressed her desire to continue speaking about Jerusalem, given the importance that it holds to her followers. She added: “Let’s be reminded that this land is some of the most holy soil in the world. Where Jesus was born. Where every religion has a place to call home.”
The reaction from the fans on social media was mixed. A certain subset of people identified with what she had to say, as they had experienced similar bans. Meanwhile, others called out the model for her divisive views. And in the process of doing so, they urged Bella to stay out of political matters.
One person wrote: “Wait this is a shadow ban?? Coz this has been happening to me as well but why…I’m a nobody.” Bella will continue to do what she thinks is right, and that is not going to change anytime soon regardless of what others may feel about it.
