Bad Boys director Michael Bay has called on Hollywood to learn a lesson from Will Smith’s slapping incident involving Chris Rock.

Will’s actions have dominated the headlines of late, with various people having had their say on the matter. And one of those was naturally Michael since he did work with Will on the Bad Boy films. But rather than singling out people for blame, Michael felt that there were bigger issues in the world to worry about.

And none more so than the current Russia-Ukraine war that not only threatens global security, but has catastrophically impacted civilians for generations to come. In a statement, Michael said: “That’s all people are talking about. And I don’t really care.

“Hollywood gets really self-absorbed. There are babies getting blown up in Ukraine right now. We should be talking about that.” Michael does have a point, but it is also important to highlight the positives that did occur from the incident. And this was shown by way of Chris’ response to the whole thing.

Not only did he refrain from lashing out in return at Will, but the comedian had also decided to make the decision to not file any charges. By acting in this way, Chris conducted himself in a manner that has won him over many new fans. This was seen when the comedian received a round of applause in his first comedy show since the slapping incident happened. That is why Michael had nothing but good words to say about Chris. He added:  “Chris was – I’ve got to work with him in movies. “I mean, I know Chris and he handled it very well.”

The fans were fully behind Michael’s comments. People were of the view that this story had dragged on for so long, and it merely took away the spotlight from more important matters. One fan wrote: “Finally someone with sense.”

Hopefully, Michael’s comments resonate with a lot more people going forward. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
