Alec Baldwin has been accused of not cooperating with the authorities in response to the investigation into the prop gun incident which killed the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Attorney Accuses Alec Baldwin Of Not Cooperating After Refusing To Give Authorities ‘His Phone Without A Warrant’
That is according to renowned attorney Christopher Melcher. The primary reason why Christopher would suggest such a thing is due to the fact that the authorities had to get a search warrant in order to get Alec’s telephone records.
Naturally, if he had nothing to hide, there would be no reason for him to wait for the authorities to get a warrant. Instead, he could have chosen to hand his records over willingly.
In an official statement given to Fox News, Christopher said: “He refused to provide his phone without a warrant. That is not cooperation or a proactive suggestion.
“I understand why he would not want his phone produced because it has so much private information on it.” Nevertheless, it is important to bear this in mind.
First of all, requesting a search warrant is a legal process and therefore something that is needed to prevent unscrupulous police practices.
Secondly, if something did happen to go wrong in terms of malpractice, a search warrant would provide the police with no excuses in acting the wrong way.
Neama Rahmani, who also happens to be a legal expert, praised Alec’s attorney Aaron Dyer for acting in the best interests of his client.
In an another statement, Neama remarked: “The phone may have evidence implicating Baldwin, and why help the district attorney’s office prosecute you when you don’t have to.
“Phone evidence allows police to ‘get inside someone’s head’ to prove knowledge and intent when they deny it.” Clearly, whatever Alec decides to do, there is always a subset of people who disapprove of his conduct.
The only way for this to be put to bed once and for all is for the authorities to examine the phone records and decide whether there is anything implicating Alec. But that is going to be a long process that could end up creating more questions than answers.
