Antonio Brown‘s decision-making deeply concerned Tom Brady long before his shirtless exit from the NFL, when the contentious receiver made headlines after receiving an emotional text from a former teammate in May 2021.
Aside from allegedly exposing himself in a public pool and quitting on the Buccaneers in the middle of a game in January, AB has recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons, including showing support for Kanye West’s “White Lives Matter” movement and insulting TB12 while divorcing Gisele Bündchen. “You are demonstrating very poor decisions and poor communication to so many people who have gone above and beyond to help you,” Tom appeared to have pleaded with AB in a heartfelt message.

Remember, Tom and AB were once best friends. The seven-time champion even twice vouched for Brown to convince the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to take a chance on him. However, things have soured in recent years.
What specifically upset Brady is unknown; AB had previously been accused of sexual assault and had attacked a moving truck driver, to name a few incidents, but had somehow managed to stay out of trouble at the time Tom sent the text. Only claiming to be upset with AB’s actions “over the past few months,” Brady made sure to be blunt in his criticism of the former star.
In the message, Brady claims that when they first met, AB was modest and eager to better his life. However, something changed. “Unfortunately you have reverted very much back to a young immature man that is selfish, self serving, irrational and irresponsible.” It’s important to note that Brady has not stated whether or not he actually sent the text, but even if he did, it doesn’t reflect poorly on him.
