Angelina Jolie has spoken passionately about the need to do whatever it takes in order to alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian people in light of the Russian attack.

The Hollywood actress is known for her humanitarian work, which was seen by the fact that she was appointed as a ‘Special Envoy’ for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in 2012.
And given that she has such a huge public platform, Angelina felt it was only right that she should use it in a positive way, so that it could lead to some tangible change. In an official statement, she said: “Like many of you, I’m praying for the people in Ukraine.
“My focus along with my @refugees colleagues is that everything possible is done to ensure the protection and basic human rights of those displaced, and refugees in the region.”
One of the ways that Angelina believes that help should be directed is by allowing those fleeing the country to have a safe place of refuge. Reports indicate that countries such as Poland and Romania have already welcomed those looking for a place of safety.
Not only that, she stressed that humanitarian aid was needed to prevent any further loss of life due to the strain on food supply and medical services. That is why she called on the international community to ensure that all regulations were being followed.
She added: “We have already seen reports of casualties and people starting to flee their homes to seek safety.
“It is too soon to know what will happen, but the significance of this moment — for the people of Ukraine, and for the international rule of law — cannot be overstated.”

The sooner that this conflict comes to an end, the better it is for all those involved. And if Angela’s comments have the impact of putting pressure on political figures, then she will have achieved what she wanted to do.
