‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) Explains how the Horton House Fire Isn’t the End, but a New Beginning

When ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers first saw in the weekly promo that the Horton House would burn down, we didn’t know what to think.

At first we didn’t thing the show runners and writers would do it. It seemed unfathomable and insane to do anything like that given how vehemently the fans love the Hortons.

But then we wondered if it was a tool the show was using to set something else up and it would’ve really be the end.

That made sense, but it was still very risky, especially when we all thought the Christmas ornaments were gone. Not destroying them was a good move.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – There almost wasn’t a house

Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) did an interview with Michael Fairman and explained that the Hortons were almost run out of Salem by a previous regime.

“Many years ago, another regime had planned on trashing the set and getting rid of the set because nobody cared about the Hortons anymore. It was stopped by one person, and I was eternally grateful for that.”

She didn’t share who the person what that stopped it, but it was for the better as the show’s about to celebrate 60 years on the air and its history is more important now than ever before.

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers – New direction

‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers can understand why Susan would have doubts about the direction with the planned burning of the Horton House, but she explained that it’s a new beginning and was done to make it more efficient to change sets.

She also had some input on the new set design.

“I enjoyed the aftermath because in the aftermath, and a little bit before the fire, if you saw the show, I get to talk a bit about the history of the household and the people in it.

“They’ve done everything to make quicker set changes, which is remarkable and very efficient right now.”

It was a great build up to the fire as we got to see some great moments between her and Doug Williams (Bill Hayes), and with Bill passing away recently it really adds gravitas to the scenes.

It looks like the Hortons are going to stick around in Salem for a long time yet, and with a new house to past down through the generations there will be plenty more stories to tell.
