A few days ago the news the Bill Hayes (Doug Williams) passed away and it broke ‘Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) spoilers hearts.
We were lucky to enjoy his time on screen as long as we did, and he’s left a lasting legacy that may never be topped.
When it comes to how we’re remembered, often times it’s how we treated others and made them feel, and in Bill’s case love and support flowed from him and there’s been an outpouring of love and support for Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams).
One voice that was quiet from sharing their thoughts was his wife of over 50 years, Susan, and that’s understandable.
No one will or should ever rush someone to talk about a lost loved one, and there’s no doubt it’s taken her a lot of effort just to share what she did.

Susan gave her thanks to fans and her fellow actors for their outpouring of love and support on her Instagram on Thursday, January 19.
“To all of you who honored my Billy with a word of remembrance, a sense of personal loss, or even a tear- I thank you. You touched my heart by seeing in him the goodness and joy I experienced every moment of our wonderful marriage. May we all embrace life with the gusto of Bill Hayes- and enrich it with grace and love ♥️ xx Susan.”
Bill carved a niche out for himself as a singer and actor, but also as a vibrant, kind person and the love that’s been shared is a testament to that.

While Bill and Susan shared an on and off screen romance for decades, Bi started on the show as an ex-con lounge singer named Doug Williams, and he quickly won over the hearts of fans and especially his young costar on and off the screen in 1970.
Bill and Susan married in 1974 and in 1976 their characters joined them in wedded bliss, though since this is a soap opera and Salem loves throwing wrenches into the best laid plans, things didn’t always go smoothly for their characters.
‘Days of Our Lives’ Spoilers are extremely grateful that he got to not only be in one more Christmas episode, but he also played a prominent role. The Hortons put a great deal of pride and homage to the past with their Christmas tree ornaments, and that just makes this extra special.
And since the show shoots six months ahead, we’ll probably see him a few more times before we get to say our final goodbyes to Doug Williams.
