Meghan Markle’s Awkward Stumble With The Royals – Biggest Fail Was Awkward Hugs And Curtsies

British Royal News says that at this point it’s obvious that Meghan Markle has had one too many awkward stumbles with the royals, and we are not just talking about her hugs and curtsies. Here’s what you need to know.

In episode two of Harry & Meghan, which has officially become Netflix’s biggest documentary debut, The Duchess of Sussex details her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth – and William and Kate. Of course, millions – more than 28 million households in the first week of the series debut, to be exact – watched closely as the Sussexes shared never-before-heard secrets about their time in the firm, which included an all-too-awkward curtsey from Meghan Markle when she met her future husband’s grandmother and her divulging she was in ripped jeans and barefoot when she met the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Whether or not Meghan was briefed on the fact that you aren’t allowed to embrace the queen or the royals without them doing so first is unclear as she says: “I was a hugger. I’ve always been a hugger, I didn’t realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits.”

If that weren’t enough, in the series Buckingham Palace has been accused of briefing negative stories about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as part of “a war against Meghan.” Jenny Afia, Meghan’s lawyer who features in the documentary, claims she has seen evidence that the royal family were involved in negative articles being written about the couple at the time.

“There was a real kind of war against Meghan and I’ve certainly seen evidence that there was negative briefing from the Palace against Harry and Meghan to suit other people’s agendas,” Afia says, as footage of Buckingham Palace is shown.

The lawyer later adds that the “barrage of negative articles” about the breakdown of Meghan’s relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, was the final straw in a “campaign of negative, nasty coverage about her.”

The series  also includes footage of Meghan discussing the negative press she received, while photographs of front pages from British newspapers including The Sun, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Star are shown. One headline reads “Meghan made Kate cry”, referring to an alleged feud with the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, while another appears to describe the couple as “Heir heads.”
