‘The Young And The Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers show that Ashland Locke was played by Richard Burgi until he was fired, at which point Robert Newman took over. Newman gave Ashland Locke a more sympathetic gangster persona than Burgi had. However, despite repeatedly confusing the audience and winning their hearts, Newman persisted in declaring his love for Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and his willingness to start over. But was it just a small part of another con?
Robert Newman recently spoke with Alan Locher of The Locher Room and addressed some important inquiries regarding the position.
‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Robert Newman (Ashland Locke) Reveals The TRUTH: Did Ashland Love Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle)?
Although he joined the show in the middle of a convoluted plot, he was able to maintain his composure and remained there for a longer period of time than we had anticipated. However, it’s possible that he didn’t choose to stay because he was living apart from his family in Los Angeles and claimed that he had no interest in living there.
Newman revealed, “About halfway through my run with Young & Restless, let’s just put it this way: I was glad that I didn’t sign on for a longer period of time,” he reflects. “I definitely made the right decision by keeping it [short].”
You might be holding your breath right now, but Newman claimed that his love for Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was genuinely based on what he had been told by head writer Joss Griffith. Newman clarified “The two things that [headwriter Joss Griffith] gave me were that he was completely blindsided by the revelation about his son not being his biological son, and that changed the way he looks at the world. And then the other thing that was really important was that his love for Victoria was real.”
According to the writer himself, Ashland truly loved Victoria.
