Rose McGowan Accuses California Governor Gavin Newsom of Being In Bed With Harvey Weinstein, Says Wife Jennifer Seibel Tried To Silence Her With Hush Cash!

Rose McGowan is no stranger to controversy. For a long time now, the actress/author/director has been speaking out against sexual abuse in Hollywood and corruption. It hasn’t made her friends in the industry, or in the mainstream. Now, she’s speaking out about the California recall as well as the #Free Britney movement. Here’s what you need to know.

Rose McGowan speaks out

So, for a long time now, McGowan has been a vocal proponent of the #MeToo movement. She was one of those who accused Harvey Weinstein of abuse, which she detailed in her book, Brave. But she hasn’t been after just one person. McGowan has targeted the industry as a whole and detailed the experiences she had in it via her book, as well as calling out her former co-star, Alyssa Milano, for bad behavior on Twitter. This actually has led to more than one Twitter feud between the two. However, this time, she is setting her sights on the election in California.

Rose McGowan takes sides

Recently, McGown came forward and accused Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Seibel Newsom, of trying to silence her six months before the infamous Weinstein story broke. She claimed Seibel Newsom asked on behalf of a law firm what it would take to make McGowan happy. Now, some Twitter users are quick to point out that Siebel Newson also came out against Weinstein and they say McGowan’s proof isn’t much to speak of. McGowan began sharing this story, from what we can see, around September 7/8 and just spoke alongside candidate Larry Elder about the situation ahead of the recall election. This has met with mixed reaction. Some are praising McGowan for the move, while others are criticizing the timing and her choice for an endorsement.

We don’t know what the truth is, and it’s not our job to say for sure. What we do know is what we’ve observed, and McGowan has seemed consistent with her statements and calling people out. One of those Alyssa Milano Twitter fights actually was about Milano’s support of President Joe Biden, who himself had allegations out about him.

Rose McGowan’s #FreeBritney message

When she’s not talking politics and corruption in Hollywood, there’s another issue that’s recently been on McGowan’s mind. While scrolling her Twitter, we discovered a message from around the time Britney Spears first publicly spoke about the conservatorship she’s lived under for thirteen years. In a Twitter video at the time, McGowan posted an open message to Spears affirming her support of the singer. She also directed that support at anyone else living under a controlling situation.

Said McGowan, “Righteous anger changes the world. Keep fighting. We’re with you.”

In a tweet before the video, McGowan posted, “Britney Spears has every right to be angry. How would you feel if your life was stolen, dissected, mocked? I pray she gets to live your life on her terms. STOP CONTROLLING WOMEN.”

Only time will tell if the recall and #FreeBritney will go the way McGowan’s pushing for, but we have to give props for the fact there are celebrities out there who will not only say things that may be unpopular/go against the mainstream, but stick with it when called out for it. Should be interesting to see how all of this plays out.
