Reese Witherspoon has opened up on the realities of motherhood ever since she gave birth to her daughter Ava.

Her daughter is now 21-years-old, but when she was younger, Reese was struggling to cope with the demands of motherhood, given that she was trying to balance her acting aspirations.
And the pressure of it all got a bit too much for her to handle. In an interview on the ‘We Are Supported By’ podcast, Reese opened up on the difficulties that she went through.
She said: “I did not have a lot of support with my first baby, and I learned really early, like, this is not going to work. I tried to muscle through for five months with Ava, just not sleeping, and I became delirious.”
Despite the struggles that she went through, Reese’s acting success enabled her to come out the other side. Given that she had such a lucrative career, she did not have to worry about trying to hold on to a regular 9-5 job.
Not only that, she had the support of her family to make sure that she was fine. She added: “I was lucky enough to have money saved, and I didn’t have to work, but it’s just not a one-person job. I would even say it’s not a two-person job.”
Things were made much more difficult for Reese, as she had gotten married at a young. In 1999, she decided to marry Ryan Phillippe. The pair, though, would go on to get divorced. During their time together, they raised two children.
And had it not been for successful co-parenting arrangements, things may have been even more difficult. In an interview on the HuffPost, she revealed: “It’s a feeling-out process. I think we’ve gotten to a really great place. It’s going well, and she’s happy and remarried, and our kids are incredible. I’m proud of the way we’ve handled it and who our little people are.”
It is great to see Reese doing so well in her life. And she serves as an example to other mothers that you can balance a career with motherhood. Long may that continue.
