Janet Jackson’s family have praised Justin Timberlake following the latter’s recent apology to Janet in the aftermath of their Super Bowl controversy.

The singer, who had infamously exposed Janet’s breast during a performance, has declared his deep regret over the incident. And now that sentiment has been accepted by the family. In an interview on the SiriusXM’s Radio show, Janet’s brother (Marlon Jackson), confirmed that the family can finally put this issue to bed. He said: “First of all, I just want to thank Justin Timberlake.
“It takes a man to step up and do that, so we do thank him. But we’d like to move forward.” Justin’s apology was part of a wider statement made in response to his alleged unfair treatment towards members of the opposite sex. Justin, for his part, had also been criticised over his treatment towards his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears.
In the aftermath of her documentary entitled ‘Framing Britney Spears, ‘ Justin felt obliged to issue an apology. It was here where he let the world know that he was ready to accept responsibility over his conduct. In a statement given at the time, he stated: “I specifically want to apologise to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually because I care for and respect these women, and I know I failed.”
And that mindset also hit home with other members of the Jackson family too. Janet’s other brother Jackie Jackson pointed out how much that incident had impacted Janet. On reflection, he was right. We only have to look at her music career since then. Following one of the biggest stages in the world, that being the Super Bowl in 2004, Janet disappeared off the radar.
And she never hit those same heights again. While an apology may never take away the trauma that she will always have, it is still a genuine gesture nonetheless. Jackie added: “It was nice that [Justin] did something like that because it kind of hurt Janet, you know, in the past. For him to..say that … it means a whole lot.” It is great to see the family putting this behind them.
