‘Days of our Lives (DOOL)’ fans have been put through the wringer. In early 2020 we all heard that the entire cast had been released from their contracts and though we were all sure this spelled the end for the long-running soap, it was, happily, renewed for a 56th season. However due to changes and financial issues, several big names, like Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady) opted to not return.
Now, as season 56 wraps, the set has gone dark and it will remain that way as NBC and Sony Picture Television undergo negotiations for a season 57 to be picked up.
Though this is a nerve wracking time for fans (I mean, we all like a good cliffhanger, but come on!), head writer Ron Carlivati and his team are confident in the sudser being picked up again. The team are hard at work, producing future scripts.
‘Days of our Lives’ Spoilers: “Everyone is proceeding under the assumption that the show will be back.”
No details have been released yet about the pending agreement, but we can all dare to dream that not only will season 57 be given the greenlight, but that the show could clinch a multi-year contract.
One things fans don’t need to worry about is their favorite daytime drama lapsing in between time. The show tapes months in advance, so, though shooting has stopped again, there are enough episodes to last through September.
Here’s hoping negotiations don’t drag that long, but the advanced filming was a coup for the soap during the pandemic driven Hollywood shutdown. The daily episodes were filmed so far in advance that it was the only soap to have enough new episodes to last throughout the entire break in shooting.
Keep your fingers crossed, DOOL fans and watch this space for more information as soon as we receive it!
