WWE News: Three Superstars That Could Be Left Off The Card At SummerSlam This Year

SummerSlam is fast approaching with some of the biggest matches of the year set to take place at the PPV on Sunday. The night will likely be headlined by the WWE Championship battle between Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton, while Sasha Banks, Bayley and Braun Strowman will also be defending their titles on the main show.

However, there already looks set to be a number of the most talented superstars left off the card altogether this year. These are some of the most notable names.

WWE News: Nikki Cross

Nikki Cross has enjoyed an excellent 2020 to this point, but it’s likely that she will not have a match at this year’s event. Cross has recently challenged Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, but with Bayley now facing off against Asuka at SummerSlam, Cross is at the back of the queue again.

The Scot hasn’t been on WWE programming since losing to Bayley, and due to Alexa Bliss being involved in the feud between The Fiend and Strowman, Cross will not have a match at this year’s event. It’s a huge shame as the momentum that she has should be utilised at one of the biggest shows of the year.

WWE News: Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens has been underused on WWE television since WrestleMania, as he has been playing a bigger part in other ongoing storylines. He has played a role in the re-forming of the Riott Squad, and even had a match with Randy Orton before the Viper attacked Ric Flair.

There doesn’t seem to be anything going on in terms of a substantial story for Owens and that would be concerning for fans as he is one of the most talented superstars on the roster. Owens shouldn’t be left off the card of any PPV; especially not one as big as SummerSlam.

WWE News: AJ Styles

AJ Styles has had countless battles at SummerSlam since arriving in the WWE, as he has faced off against Owens, John Cena and Samoa Joe. However, it would seem likely that he will not be on the card this year. It is a shame, as the WWE have instead pressed forward with plans to have Styles defend his title on SmackDown this week against Jeff Hardy.

The match could have easily been saved for SummerSlam as the two superstars are likely to put together an excellent match. However, the introduction of the Thunderdome has ensured that this week’s SmackDown will be a huge event.
