ABC ‘The Bachelorette’ spoilers indicates that star Rachel Lindsay is ready to cut ties with the popular reality dating television show. The 35-year-old reality star said that unless changes are made to the way that the show picks out it’s contestants, she’s willing and ready to walk out the door.
During a virtual interview for After Buzz, Rachel noted that in over 40 seasons of the hit ABC soap, there has only been one black lead. She said, “You are almost on par to say you’re more likely to become the president of the United States than you are a black lead in this franchise. That’s insane. That’s ridiculous.” Even though Rachel recently appeared as a judge on the Bachelor spin-off Listen To Your Heart, she is willing to cut ties with the franchise unless drastic changes are made.

“It’s been asked of me: ‘Will I continue in this franchise if it continues in this way?'” Lindsay said. “I can’t. I have to see some type of change. It’s ridiculous. It’s embarrassing. At this point, it’s embarrassing to be affiliated with it.” Rachel said that on The Bachelor, “people of color become placeholders as the token person of color to add some flavor,” adding, “I have not been loud enough on the deep-rooted, 18-year systemic problems in this franchise… I have come to the conclusion that if changes are not made on the inside and outside of the franchise, I will dissociate myself from it.”
The reality star also added that she’s hoping that someone like Mike Johnson, from Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, could serve as the lead for the next season. “I would be thrilled if [Johnson] was the bachelor,” she said. “I think a lot of people would, there was such a huge movement to make him the bachelor last season. I gave a whole spiel when I found out he wasn’t. If it’s him, everybody knows where I stand!”
