She hides doing this from him, as well as pawn an anniversary present to achieve her dream. It ends up turning into a nightmare when the procedure goes wrong. She’s left with a face that’s not so social-media friendly. Plus, her husband leaves her after discovering what she’d done. The worst part is, she had a chance to avoid that.

The whole issue messed with Tomas so much, he was drinking. He ended up getting into an accident, and Vanessa wasn’t there for her son. Her desperation to be perfect and online famous won out when her husband called both her and her friend over and over to tell about the accident. She chose not to return the calls and go into surgery instead. We’re looking at that doctor side-eyed for pressuring her the way he did. To her credit, she learns something from the experience. She gets the help she clearly needed and makes one last video. In it, she warns her followers of what can happen when you don’t accept yourself, flaws and all. It’s a great message to get across.
