Jonathan Goodwin, who injured himself on America’s Got Talent, has spoken out for the first time since his injury.

The escape artist injured himself while trying to escape from a straitjacket as he became sandwiched in between some hanging cars that were part of his act.
While the show was criticised for the manner in which it put its contestants through unnecessary risks, Jonathan saw it as anything but that. Instead, he chose to see the positives and thanked all those who had shown him so much support.
In a post to his fans on Instagram, Jonathan shared a picture of himself from the hospital bed. He is making a funny face as he holds his bandaged hand in the air in order to hide his discomfort.
His face still has the scars and burn marks from the stunt. The post was captioned by the following comments: “You can’t say you don’t get out what you put in.
“I’ve tried my hardest over the years to be kind, thoughtful, honest, supportive and good. A couple of days ago, my life took a complete left turn… and the outpouring of love from all the corners of the world.”
And this support was shown through the response on social media. Not only did the American audience get behind him, but many fans of the franchise from around the world came together to show their love.
There was even talk that a fund may be set up if Jonathan needed any financial help. One fan wrote: “Love you, buddy,” while another stated: “You are indestructible!!! Such a legend and awesome person. Get well soon.”
Regardless of whether Jonathan should have gone on the show, it has inadvertently had the impact of boosting his profile. He has now gone on to become a household name, so much so that when the show starts filming again, if he were to make a recovery and return, he would be one of the favourites to win the show.
Jonathan has a truly remarkable story, but whether he can go a step further and return to win the competition is anyone’s guess. Time will tell.
