According to reports by Variety, a woman has been killed and a man injured Thursday after they were shot by a prop firearm on the set of a movie starring Alec Baldwin outside Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office said a 42-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital, where she died, while a 42-year-old man was getting emergency care at another hospital. It’s been revealed that the woman is cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the man is director Joel Souza. Hutchins was airlifted to the University of New Mexico (UNM) Hospital in Albuquerque, where she was later pronounced dead, while Souza was brought by ambulance to the Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is still receiving emergency care as of the latest updates.

No one was arrested in the incident, and no charges have been filed, according to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office but it does remain under investigation at press time.

“According to investigators it appears that the scene being filmed involved the use of a prop firearm when it was discharged,” a statement from authorities said. “Detectives are investigating how and what type of projectile was discharged.”

“Rust” is a western film set in the 1880s that stars Alec Baldwin, Travis Fimmel and Jensen Ackles. The film is about the story of a 13-year-old boy in 1880’s Kansas who, charged with protecting himself and his little brother after the death of their parents, “goes on the run with his long estranged grandfather after he’s sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher.”
