Actress Roseanne Barr‘s daughter Jenny Pentland has spoken on how she continues to suffer from post-traumatic-stress disorder, as a result of abuse she had been through during her teenage years.
Actress Roseanne Barr’s Daughter Jenny Pentland Recalls ‘The Worst Abuse’ She Experienced At An Institution
Jenny, for her part, spent time in facilities that aimed to deal with people suffering from psychological issues. But unlike the mantra that goes behind in setting up such an institution, they often turn out to do the opposite of what they are designed for.
And this is precisely the experience that Jenny had when she was sent to one. During an interview with People magazine, Jenny said: “The worst abuse I feel I suffered was having my free will removed – the lack of freedom.”
Clearly, there is a feeling that Jenny’s parents should have something to answer for by virtue of the fact that they decided to go ahead and send their daughter there.
Although it could be argued that this was based on behavioural experts and their advice, the very fact of the matter is that parents should be held responsible for the welfare of their children especially when they are at a young age.
And this is precisely something that happened with Paris Hilton when she opened up about the abuse she had gone through following her parents decision to send her to a similar institution.
And yet, Jenny was simply a teenager trying to find her way in the world in a difficult period. She added: “I was getting bad grades, and I was mouthy, cutting my arms and smoking cigarettes.”
That is why Jenny feels more action should be taken in order to combat such institutions. And once again, this is very much in line with what Paris said in the aftermath of her experience.
So much so that Paris urged President Joe Biden to do more to combat such institutions. And with that in mind, Jenny is fully on board too.
Her following comments confirmed as much: “These places are still out there and I want it to stop. I don’t think about what I’ve lost anymore.
“I think about what other people are losing right now or what they’re going to lose if it doesn’t change.” If you liked reading this article, then check out our other features on the Daily Soap Dish.
