Actor Sean Penn has spoken on what he saw amid the Russia-Ukraine war now that he has managed to get home.

The actor, for his part, had been in the country in order to document the events first-hand. While he did put himself in danger, knowing that anything could have happened, the very fact of the matter is that he was in a position of privilege compared to the other people.
And this was something he realised, as he walked along the Polish border when exiting the country along with the numerous other people that had done the same thing. In an interview, he said: “I was glad, not so much in the moment, but I was glad to have had the experience of having to see what it was to get through that border.”
And after seeing everything up close, Sean praised the resilience of the Ukrainian people in continuing to show fortitude. But he also extended his praise towards the sector of Russian society who did not want war with Ukraine.
After all, by speaking out, they are also subjecting themselves to danger knowing that they could pay hefty consequences as a result. This has already been seen through the mass number of people that have been arrested for protesting against the war.
Sean added: “And I think about — there are great Russian people who don’t want this war, who don’t believe in it — and getting information that supports them because obviously they’re under great threat to speak out and to protest, yet some are doing it.”
As for what Sean’s next move will be, it looks as though he will be focusing on making sure that his project on the conflict is released. While there is no timeline as such, one thing for sure is that he has contributed to creating a dialogue on the situation.
And at a time where people are looking to others to step up to provide the necessary leadership to stop this conflict, Sean has in some part played his role in doing that. So what did you think about this?
