In his new role as the terrifying Captain Hook, which he vowed would “give children nightmares,” Jude Law appeared completely unlike himself. The British performer, 50, is depicted in first-look photos with long, unkempt hair and a full mustache while donning a weathered captain’s uniform.

Jude prepared to portray the antagonist in the upcoming Disney movie Peter Pan & Wendy by showcasing the character’s iconic hook in the ominous snap. The father of seven, who just had his youngest kid, said he was thrilled that the movie’s trailer showed him in a frightening light.

Jude told Fox TV “It was something I wanted to bring out of it. I did not want to be the subject of children’s nightmares, but it seemed important to me. You go back to the book and they talk about him being the only pirate that Long John Silver was scared of.”

Disney unveiled the first official teaser and poster for the eagerly awaited Peter Pan & Wendy on Tuesday morning. The movie is a live-action adaptation of the famous 1953 animated Peter Pan classic, which has undergone numerous reimaginings over the years.

The protagonist of the tale is Peter Pan, portrayed by Alexander Molony, who is perpetually youthful and playful. He brings Ever Anderson, the son of Milla Jovovich and director Paul WS Anderson, who plays his new friend Wendy, to Neverland to see how children have fun there.

Wendy embarks on the journey of a lifetime there, where she encounters the sinister Lost Boys, the brave Tinkerbell (played by Yara Shahidi), beautiful mermaids, and the alluring Tiger Lily. On April 28, Peter Pan & Wendy, which celebrates Disney’s 100th birthday, will go live on Disney+.
