‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ (B&B) spoilers find that star Matthew Atkinson recently opened up about his character, Thomas Forrester, and the reason why this new storyline that focuses on his mental health issues is so important. Here’s what he has to say.
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Matthew admits that he watched movies such as Lars and the Real Girl and Mannequin for inspiration and is pleased to see that ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ has decided to take a much darker tone than what viewers are used to seeing. That’s because Thomas’ mental health issues is a tale that needs to be told, according to the handsome actor.

He told the publication, “A lot of people are suffering right now because of what’s happening in the world, and it is really important to talk about mental health,” he asserts.
“Thomas is suffering from something and I know this is a unique departure from reality, but there is a connection. Mental health is something people should talk about more and I think in its own way, this story is informative and it opens up the subject and that, I think, is truly important.”
Matthew hints that there’s also a good reason why ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ have publicized the use of mannequins so much in order to reduce the number of actors that are on the set of the show in this new Covid-19 world that everyone is living in.
“I don’t know if that’s where the idea came from but it’s been in the news since the shows have come back, and it got people talking,” Matthew explains.
“I think maybe Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] saw how interested people got and considering how we’re trying to make movie magic right now, they decided to throw it into the storyline, which is really fun. It’s cool that, in a very different way, we’re exploring this new world that we’re living in.”
Now, as far as what will happen next between Thomas and the Hope Logan doll remains to be said. Needless to say, ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next!
