2020 has not been a great year for any of us. There’s been murder hornets, we lost a ton of great celebrities this year (Chadwick Boseman, Sean Connery, and Alex Trebek, RIP gentlemen.), there’s been a global pandemic with over 200,000 people lost in the US alone, we just had a very hard-won presidential election that’s still in contention thanks to a few control freaks who can’t let go, and now, 2020 delivers one of the unkindest cuts of all.
We had a youtube outage.
That’s right, millions of us freaked out as we thought that for one, horrible moment our favorite online video platform had crashed for good and all of our favorite cat videos that we had saved would be no more. No longer could we log on and watch the crazy antics of Jeffree Star, Tana Mongeau, and James Charles, nope, we were locked out.

Some got a spinning wheel, others got a ‘please retry’ error on their device (I was one of the latter), and we were all wondering what on earth happened, where did it go? Did youtube just disappear into the black void of 2020 never to be heard from again?
I mean, it’s bad enough we almost lost tiktok this year thanks to He Who Shall Not Be Named, but did 2020 have to come for youtube too? I mean, come on, we need platforms like youtube.
Where on earth are we going to watch wild storytime videos, or learn how to do the perfect fox eye, or catch up on the latest drama? Sure, we could turn to other platforms, or maybe do productive things like read books or watch the cable subscription that we pay for, but where’s the fun in that? We want our youtube, and we want it now!
Thankfully, the youtube team listened and the platform is back up and running. Although, no one really knows what happened to it. I’m guessing it was just one of those things that sometimes happens to technology, it fails and you kind of have to proverbially ‘hit it with a hammer’ until it works again.
I’m guessing someone dug out that 20lb sledgehammer at youtube headquarters because we have our videos back! Thank God. Stay tuned!!!
