CBS ‘The Young and the Restless’ (Y&R) spoilers finds that star Melissa Claire Egan recently opened up about what’s in store for her character Chelsea Newman and her lover, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Here’s what you need to know.
As many fans already know, ‘The Young and the Restless’ is picking up right where they left off before the coronavirus pandemic forced the soap, along with the rest of the film and television industry, to suspend production and filming back in mid-March.

Melissa teases that Chelsea’s life will take a turn for the worst when she finds out that it was in fact Adam that killed A.J. Montalvo, and not his father Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), as was last suspected.
“Adam’s basically having an emotional breakdown because he was just told that he killed someone when he was a young boy,” the actress previewed in a new interview with CBS Soaps in Depth. “So that’s obviously a lot to take in. And at first, he doesn’t remember. So Chelsea is trying to be a supportive wife and be there for him and try to convince him he’s not a monster. But obviously, that’s a really hard thing to do.”
If that weren’t enough, there’s another surprise waiting in the wings for Chelsea and Adam. There’s a strong possibility that Adam might end up in the arms of another one of his exes, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case).
“Mentally and emotionally, he’s spent and he’s trying to remember these things from his childhood that he doesn’t remember so he needs therapy,” she teased. “And who’s a therapist in town? Sharon. So that’s going to be a bit of an issue for Chelsea, too. It’s really fun.”
Melissa then added, “Not fun for Chelsea — I don’t think she’s a fan of the idea,” Egan quickly added with a chuckle. “But that adds a lot of levels and a lot of elements to the story we’re about to tell. I hope the fans like it. I think they will. There’s a lot of twists and turns.”
